Natural Superfood Mastiha / Mastic Gum Medium Tears
This unique Greek superfood from the island of Chios in the Aegean sea is a registered natural PDO product (Protected Designation of Origin) and can only be found in the southern part of the island. It is the resin of Pistacia lentiscus trees of Chios.
Mastiha / mastic is a natural product free from chemicals, preservatives or any form of additives, and full of therapeutical and medicinal properties for digestive or gastric disorders and oral hygiene. It has a significant amounts of antibacterial, antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties, and also aids in trauma healing and skin regeneration.
No wonder this nature's superfood is considered as one of the most important in the world!
Mastiha, Masticha or Mastic has a beautiful aroma and taste, and it's widely used in Mediterranean cuisine, as it's a very versatile ingredient that has found place in many chefs' kitchens around the world. It has a deep, exotic and slightly pine/musky aroma with delicate vanilla sweetness and can be used in cooking and baking, from breads such as brioche or tsoureki, to ice creams and even in cocktails. It’s also gluten free and suitable for a vegan diet.
How to use mastiha tears:
- Use a mortar and pestle to crush a few tears. Do not use a blender, as it will damage the blades.
- Add a pinch of salt for any savoury dishes.
- Add a little sugar for sweet dishes.
STORAGE INSTRUCTIONS: Store mastic in a dry, cool place (below 18°C) or in the fridge for longer periods or in hot weather.

We currently only ship to Australia, however we will be expanding internationally in the near future.
Our returns policy last 14 days and to be eligible for a return, the item must be unused and in its original packaging with a receipt or proof of purchase.
Perishable goods such as food and flowers cannot be returned. We only replace items if they are defective or damaged. If you need to exchange it for the same item, send us an email at info@grecianpurveyor.com.
